"'I own you': Australian parents sentenced after abusing daughter for 15 years."


"The first time it happened, she said, she was 5 years old.


Her mother was in the hospital — having just given birth to the girl's newest sibling — when her father slipped into her bedroom and raped her, starting a 15-year cycle of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.


Her father tied her up and locked her in an old chicken coop — or sometimes a small storage box — for days at a time, and surrounded her with barbed wire to keep her from attempting an escape.


He held her underwater and threatened her with a chain saw, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He made her stand on ant hills, swallow hot chilies and eat her own vomit, the Herald reported.


“My father inflicted evil,” she said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “He abused me in such ways that I thought I was going to die. My mother didn't stop him and did not protect me. My childhood was lost and I can never get it back.”


Judge Sarah Huggett said the couple, who had backgrounds in teaching and coaching elite sports, “hoodwinked” their community — appearing as dedicated parents, training their children for competitions both in Australia and abroad, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. The father would threaten his daughter, telling her if she did not win, “she would be taken to the shed,” the newspaper reported, citing court documents..."

"23-year-old Texas man who police claim confessed to decapitating his 21-year-old wife and placing her head into their freezer allegedly described the killing as “a battle between good and evil” as he was being interrogated, PEOPLE confirms.


On Wednesday, a grand jury returned an indictment against 23-year-old Davie Dauzat, who allegedly stabbed Natasha Dauzat to death in August while their young children were in a separate room of their Bellmead, Texas, home.


The indictment charges Davie with a single count: murder for his wife’s Aug. 25 death.


According to the indictment, police received a call the morning of Aug. 25 from Davie’s brother, who told investigators he was worried about Davie after speaking with him on the phone.


Police were dispatched to the Dauzat home, but Davie refused to come out, the indictment alleges. Over time, officers were able to talk him into surrendering. Once inside the home, they found the couple’s children unharmed but drenched in their mother’s blood..."

Con Man - Stolen Identities - 3 Marriages - Caught!

"A man who went missing in 1993 has been discovered living with a new family and a stolen identity in Florida.


Richard Hoagland made a panicked call to his wife, Linda Iseler, when she was at work on 10 February 1993, saying he was on his way to hospital.


She and her two sons, Matthew, 9, and Doug, 6, never saw him again.


Meanwhile Hoagland had traveled 1,000 miles south from their home in Indianapolis to the small town of Zephyrhills, Florida.


He remarried under the name of Terry Symansky - a fisherman who died in a freak accident in 1991 - and had another child.


Hoagland, now 63, faces several fraud charges. Pascoe County police called him a "selfish coward" for the cover-up.


Sheriff Chris Nocco said: "This is a person who has lived his life destroying others..."

Ban on Women Lifted - At Famous Mumbai Mosque

"A famous mosque in India has agreed to scrap a ban on women entering its inner sanctum after a bitter legal battle about the restriction.


The Haji Ali Dargah trust has barred women from the mausoleum off the coast of Mumbai since 2011, insisting the presence of women near the tomb of a revered saint is a "grievous sin" in Islam.


The trustees had appealed to the Supreme Court against a lower court's decision in August to overturn the ban as a violation of constitutional rights of equality.

But the trust told the Supreme Court on Monday it would now admit women but needed several weeks to set up special entry areas to the tomb in the 15th-century building.


A Muslim women's rights group hailed the decision as a victory which would likely put pressure on other places of worship that have gender restrictions.


"It is restoring the Islamic values of what we have always believed as Muslims, that Islam is a religion of equality, democracy and women's rights," Noorjehan Niaz, co-founder of Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan, which campaigns for the rights of Muslim women in India, told AFP news agency..."

"Sandy Parsons boasted only he could lead police to Erica’s body, relative says"


"People with knowledge of the case told The Charlotte Observer that it was about the time that the girl’s adoptive father – Sandy Parsons, serving eight years in a federal prison in Butner for fraud in connection with cashing the girl’s adoption assistance checks – opened a dialogue through a third party with detectives.


One family member said that Sandy Parsons bragged from prison that police would never be able to find Erica’s body without him because she was hidden somewhere that hikers, hunters and even children exploring the woods wouldn’t venture.


When it came out where Erica’s body was, Sandy Parsons confided, it would be a surprise to everyone.

Sandy Parsons also boasted that he’d made an offer to law enforcement – if they would release him and two other felons he was imprisoned with, give him the reward money for finding Erica and never charge him in her death, he would lead them to her body.

"FBI investigator calls discovery 'heartbreaking'"

Human remains believed to be that of missing teen Erica Parsons were found in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, according to officials.

The remains were found in the Pageland Mount Croghan area of Chesterfield County Tuesday.
Family members told WBTV they were asked to go to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office on Friday.


According to a release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office they, along with the FBI, obtained leads in August of 2016 that Erica was "more than likely deceased." According to the release, the remains were located on September 27. They were then sent to the NC Medical Examiner's Office and were identified as the young girl.


Investigators have not said how the remains were located, or indicated how Parsons may have died.

Saudi Arabia - Kafala System - Trapping Migrant Workers

Tens of thousands of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia are starving. They have limited access to clean drinking water, electricity and medical care.


Trash piles up in the dozens of labor camps they are forced to occupy, leading to squalid conditions in their cramped quarters. Everyone is out of work, and their money is running out, if it hasn’t run out already.


It is impossible for them to pay back the exorbitant debts they accumulated in order to move to Saudi Arabia. They are also now unable to send valuable remittances back to their families in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.


No one has been paid in months—their employers, neglected payment by the state, have left these workers with nothing.


The government of Saudi Arabia has a large role to play in this current migrant crisis. In 2014, the drop in oil prices forced the government to selectively implement strict cuts in state spending. The kingdom’s subsequent mismanagement of its finances led to an economic depression, which in turn left the state unable to uphold its contractual obligations.


Saudi Arabia contracted many of the construction companies for which the stranded migrants worked. One of those companies is Saudi Oger, a Lebanese-owned construction mega-company that relies heavily upon the Saudi government for contracted work, such as building defense installations, hospitals and schools.


The government owes Saudi Oger over 30 billion riyals (approximately $8 billion) for work that has already been completed.


The entrenchment of the kafala system, which ties a worker’s immigration and employment status to his or her employer, undermines many of the efforts to alleviate the crisis. Under kafala, a worker cannot switch jobs or leave the country without the explicit permission of his or her employer. However, in the current situation, these requirements are impossible to fulfill, as there are no employers..."
