Using Reason To Be Passionate About Your Life/Goals

I am passionate about my purpose, aim and goals:

  • Justice
  • My single normal life and privacy
  • Being paid for what I have earned

"Reason is man's only means of grasping reality and of acquiring knowledge - and, therefore, the rejection of reason means that men should act regardless of and/or in contradiction to the facts of reality.

[Reason] is a faculty that man has to exercise by choice. Thinking is not an automatic function. In any hour and issue of his life, man is free to think or evade that effort.

The sense, concepts, logic: these are the elements of man's rational faculty - its start, its form, its method. In essence, "follow reason" means: base knowledge on observation; form concepts according to the actual (measurable) relationships among concretes; use concepts according to the rules of logic (ultimately, the Law of Identity). Since each of these elements is based on the facts of reality, the conclusions reached by a process of reason are objective.

Man's mind is his basic means of survival - and of self-protection. Reason is the most selfish human faculty: it has to be used in and by a man's mind, and its product - truth - makes him inflexible, intransigent, impervious to the power of any pack or any ruler. Deprived of the ability to reason, man becomes a docile, pliant, impotent chunk of clay, to be shaped into any subhuman form and used for any purpose by anyone who wants to bother.

"To live, man must hold three things as the supreme and ruling values of his life:
  • Reason - Purpose - Self-esteem.
  • Reason, as his only tool of knowledge
  • Purpose, as his choice of the happiness which that tool must proceed to achieve
  • Self-esteem, as his inviolate certainty that his mind is competent to think and his person is worthy of happiness, which means: is worthy of living."

Two Cubans Used 54 Stolen Identities In a Fraud Scheme

"CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Two Cuban men, who traveled across 16 Iowa countries in 2017 and used 54 stolen identities and card numbers to make fraudulent purchases, were each sentenced Thursday to more than three years in federal prison. A third co-conspirator is awaiting sentencing.

According to plea agreements and other information presented in court, Alvarez Rodriguez and Santana Moreno drove across the state of Iowa with a third person, Liliany de Armas Mena, using counterfeit credit cards containing at least 54 "skimmed" account numbers of victims. They used these fake cards to purchase gift cards and gift card reloads at Wal-Mart stores. Their scheme was designed to evade detection by keeping individual transactions under $100, moving across county borders to stay ahead of authorities, and using account numbers "skimmed" within the state of Iowa.

In sentencing Alvarez Rodriguez and Santana Moreno, Chief Judge Strand commented that the defendants were:"

Respect Is Earned, Only With Those Who Trade Value

I know exactly why and what I have been fighting for:

  • Justice
  • Being paid for what I have earned

I know exactly what I am NOT fighting for:
  • A relationship of any nature

"The symbol of all relationships among [rational] men,
the moral symbol of respect for human beings, is the trader."
~ Ayn Rand

"We, who live by values, not by loot, are traders, both in matter and in spirit. A trader is a man who earns what he gets and does not give or take the undeserved. A trader does not ask to be paid for his failures, nor does he ask to be loved for his flaws. A trader does not squander his body as fodder or his soul as alms. Just as he does not give his work except in trade for material values, so he does not give the values of his spirit—his love, his friendship, his esteem

except in payment and in trade for human virtues

in payment for his own selfish pleasure, which he receives from men he can respect. The mystic parasites who have, throughout the ages, reviled the traders and held them in contempt, while honoring the beggars and the looters, have known the secret motive of their sneers:"

a trader is the entity they dread—a man of justice."

Call Me Nasty Names, Beware Using Force Against Me

~ Ayn Rand

If you don't like that I get in your face, standing up for myself, you should not have fucked up my life and family in the first place. I do have a valid reason to get in your face, since you initiated force against me and my family. Not talking about small moral errors, but gross negligent evil

I cannot even write in my own personal space that is not published without my gang bangers reading every word I write. While they run around the country telling us how bad we are and that we profile them. Can you imagine. Can you imagine who the hell they think they fucking are?

You can call me all the nasty names you want, but once you initiate force and the force is consistent, grows, destroys my life and kills my family members, I don't play games

Honesty

  • Honesty is the recognition of the fact that the unreal is unreal and can have no value
  • That neither love nor fame nor cash is a value if obtained by fraud
  • That an attempt to gain a value by deceiving the minds of others is an act of raising your victims to a position higher than reality, where you become a pawn of their blindness, a slave of their non-thinking and evasions
  • While their intelligence, their rationality, their perceptiveness are the enemies you have to dread and flee
  • That you do not care to live as a dependent, least of all a dependent on the stupidity of others
  • Or as a fool whose source of values is the fools he succeeds at fooling
  • That honesty is not a social duty, not a sacrifice for the sake of others
  • But the most profoundly selfish virtue man can practice:
  • His refusal to sacrifice the reality of his own existence to the deluded consciousness of others

What Is Essential? What Is Good, What Is Important?

If being popular to you means having a shit pile of followers, that have no value system, that are stupid, ignorant, dumb, moronic, imbeciles, you are not someone I have respect for. I don't!

Some individuals don't do things to be popular, famous, liked, . . . they do them because they are the right things to do, based on a value system. They don't need to sit at a table full of idiots.

They don't do things to get the unearned. They don't do things to get attention. They don't do things to be popular, to be liked . . . . They do them, because these actions are important.

Important for life and living. Because they take life seriously. They don't consider life a joke, they don't think they get another chance, but this one precious life that  matters.

"Every second matters!"

"There are many special or "cross-filed" chains of abstractions (of interconnected concepts) in man's mind. Cognitive abstractions are the fundamental chain, on which all the others depend. Such chains are mental integrations, serving a special purpose and formed accordingly by a special criterion.

Cognitive abstractions are formed by the criterion of: What is essential?

*(epistemologically essential to distinguish one class of existents from all others).

Normative abstractions are formed by the criterion of: What is good?

Esthetic abstractions are formed by the criterion of: What is important?

  • She has no Self-Confidence
  • She has no Self-Worth
  • She has no Self-Esteem: Self-Esteem, as his inviolate certainty that his mind is competent to think and his person is worthy of happiness, which means: is worthy of living.

"And I would consider her the most ignorant, stupid, moronic, imbecile on earth."

Fredrick Douglass's Speech: "Self-Made Men"

- Photo of Fredrick Douglas found @: Objectivist Standard

"In Fredrick Douglass: Self-Made Man (a title inspired by one of Douglass's most famous addresses), Sandefur writes. "As the nation pauses to commemorate the bicentennial of this remarkable man's birth, it is worthwhile to recall not just his own triumphant narrative, but the ideas and principles that he articulated better than almost anyone in American history." Among those principles was a fervent belief in the potential of the free individual.

"Douglass, was, first and foremost, an individualist," says Sandefur.

"On the first point I may say that, by the term "self-made men," I mean especially what, to the popular mind, the term itself imports. Self-made men are the men who, under peculiar difficulties and without the ordinary helps of favoring circumstances, have attained knowledge, usefulness, power and position and have learned from themselves the best uses to which life can be put in this world, and in the exercises of these uses to build up worthy character. They are the men who owe little or nothing to birth, relationship, friendly surroundings; to wealth inherited or to early approved means of education; who are what they are, without the aid of any of the favoring conditions by which other men usually rise in the world and achieve great results. In fact they are the men who are not brought up but who are obliged to come up, not only without the voluntary assistance or friendly co-operation of society, but often in open and derisive defiance of all the efforts of society and the tendency of circumstances to repress, retard and keep them down. . . ."

"They are in a peculiar sense, indebted to themselves for themselves."

"If they have traveled far, they have made the road on which they have traveled. If they have ascended high, they have built their own ladder. From the depths of poverty such as these have often come. Flung overboard in the midnight storm on the broad and tempest-tossed ocean of life; left without ropes, planks, oars or life-preservers, they have bravely buffeted the frowning billows and have risen in safety and life where others, supplied with the best appliances for safety and success, have fainted, despaired and gone down forever."

Such men as these, whether found in one position or another, whether in college or in the factory; whether professors or plowmen; whether Caucasian or Indian; whether Anglo-Saxon or Anglo-African, are self-made men and are entitled to a certain measure of respect for their success and for proving to the world the grandest of possibilities of human nature, of whatever variety of race or color.

Though a man of this class need not claim to be a hero or to be worshiped as such, there is a genuine heroism in his struggle and something of sublimity and glory in his triumph. Every instance of such success is an example and a help to humanity. It, better than any mere assertion, gives us assurance of the latent powers and resources or simple and unaided manhood. It dignifies labor, honors application, lessens pain and depression, dispels gloom from the brow of the destitute and weariness from the heart of him about to faint, and enables man to take hold of the roughest and flintiest hardships incident to the battle of life, with a lighter heart, with higher hopes and a larger courage. . . ."

Why Objectivism Takes The Virtue Of Justice So Seriously

The Crucial Importance of Justice

"This is why Objectivism takes the virtue of justice so seriously, a virtue to be practiced consistenly, unfailingly, mercilessly, in this world, i.e., in the here and now.

No supernatural dimension exists, in which every wrong will be righted. A victim of injustice can in fact never be rendered fully whole.

"Life is measured in time:"

there is no way to go back in time and remove the pain and suffering the victim has experienced. Perpetrators of injustice can (and should) seek to make amends and compensate their victims, but the perpetrators can never put their victims back to where they were prior to the injustice. Whether it's someone who falsely accused a co-worker, who cheated on a spouse or who defrauded a customer, . .

"the fact is
that this is a portion of the victims' lives
that they will never get back."

As one of the main characters in Atlas Shrugged comes to realize, in an important formulation: "There is no escape from justice, nothing can be unearned and unpaid for in the universe, neither in matter nor in spirit - and if the guilty do not pay, then the innocent have to pay it."

If you want the good to triumph, therefore, you can't leave it to the gods or to karma. It's your responsibility. You must explicitly champion and fight for that which you regard as good. Justice, properly understood, is a demanding virtue. We live in a non-judgmental age, which often derides the act and even the very idea of morally judging another person. Objectivism's advice is radically different:

"One must never fail to pronounce moral judgment."

In all human endeavors, each one of us should work carefully and conscientiously to separate the good from the evil, and then actively support the good and actively expose, punish and shun the evil. The forms this takes in life are many and varied. But the principle remains the same. Anything less than this will undermine the good and prop up evil.

Thus when Objectivism maintains that the universe is benevolent, it is not tying to erase or minimize the existence of human evil. Recorded history is rife with evil and injustice. "Man," Rand writes, "is the only living species that has the power to act as his own destroyer - and that is the way he has acted through most of his history."

I Own My Life, Mind, Choices: I Am Not Looking For Love

Individualism

"The mind is an attribute of the individual. There is no such thing as a collective brain. There is no such thing as a collective thought. An agreement reach by a group of men is only a compromise or an average drawn upon many individual thoughts. It is a secondary consequence. The primary act - the process of reason - must be performed by each man alone. We can divide a meal among many men. We cannot digest it in a collective stomach. No man can use his lungs to breathe for another man. No man can use his brain to think for another. All the functions of body and spirit are private.

"They cannot be shared or transferred."

We inherit the products of the thought of other men. We inherit the wheel. We make a cart. The cart becomes an automobile. The automobile becomes an airplane. But all through the process what we receive from others is only the end product of their thinking. The moving force is the creative faculty which takes this product as material, uses it and originates the next step. This creative faculty cannot be given or received, shared or borrowed.

"It belongs to single, individual men."

That which it creates is the property of the creator. Men learn from one another. But all learning is only the exchange of material. No man can give another the capacity to think, yet that capacity is our only means of survival."

~ Found at Ayn Rand Lexicon - Individualism

"Unless we are ready to radically rethink
our culture's fundamental ideas,
with the same intensity of thought our Founding Fathers
exerted in rethinking government
our long-term trajectory is set and will play out.
But the choice is ours
- this is the message of Atlas Shrugged."

China's Censorship Regime Not New, Still Cracking Down

- Photo found @: Techcrunch

"Following the passage of a new cybersecurity law and the removal of term limits from Chinese president Xi Jinping, China's government is conducting a comprehensive crackdown on online discussions and content, with few companies spared the rod by the central government."

  • "Among the causalities has been Bytendance, the extremely high-flying $20 billion media unicorn startup that was forced to publicly apologize for content that degraded the character of the nation.
  • Another high-flying media unicorn, Kuaishou, has been under fire for allowing teenage moms to be depicted in a positive light.
  • Meanwhile, over at Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like service, the company announced on Friday that it would ban violent and gay content from the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television.
  • There are other forms of censorship underway these days in China. China's soccer players recently were banned from having tattoos, as it depicts a "dispirited culture," which is banned on all media.
  • Perhaps most importantly, the government has banned the use of private VPN's, in order to better control online discourse.
  • China's censorship regime is certainly not new, but its intensity around culture and how it is depicted is relatively novel. . . ."

Russia: Among Worst In The World For Press Freedom

- Photo found @: Yahoo

"Journalism is a perilous profession in Russia,
a nation considered among the worst in the world for press freedom."

"A journalist who had been investigating the deaths of alleged Russian mercenaries in Syria died in a hospital on Sunday after falling from his balcony in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

Maxim Borodin, a 32-year-old reporter for the Yekaterinburg-based Ria Novy Den news agency, was known for his coverage of high-profile corruption and criminal cases. He fell from his fifth-floor balcony on Thursday, The New York Times reported, and neighbors found him critically injured at the foot of the building. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries three days later.

"[Borodin's] work was very dangerous," friend and local civil rights activist Vyacheslav Bashkov told The Guardian this week. "He was one of the best."

Is MS-13 Behind The Killing of Veteran Kenneth Coyle?

- Above photo found @: The Fresno Bee

"It's an evil crime, the alleged crime is "just evil."

"Stacie Mendoza was working as a waitress at a restaurant in Hanford, California, when she first met Kenneth Coyle, police say.

Hanford Police Capt. Karl Anderson said in a press conference that Mendoza and the 70-year-old Vietnam War veteran developed a relationship between six to eight months ago. He said Coyle often visited the restaurant that Mendoza worked at, according to The Hanford Sentinel.

Coyle's sister told police that the veteran, who had no children, often visited restaurants in an attempt to make new friends, The Hanford Sentinel reported. But Anderson said Mendoza had no intention of simply developing a relationship.

We believe she was trying to use a friendship with an elderly gentleman that was looking for people to talk to and just visit," he said "and we think she manipulated that relationship to gain his trust an defraud him of money."

Stacie Mendoza and Jose Mendoza, her husband, visited Coyle's house on April 5, police say, and that's when things grew violent. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the couple tied the man to a bed, tortured him for information so they could access his bank account and then killed him through "blunt force trauma and suffocation."

Police say that by April 8, the couple had driven to rural Nadera Country with Coyle's body and their three children in a U-Haul, according to ABC7. The couple is accused of burning his remains in front of their children. . . ."

"It's an evil crime," he said. "They victimized an elderly man that served
our country, that was living in our community hurting no one."

America Is a Constitutional Republic, Not a Democracy

Republic

"The American system is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. A democracy, if you attach meaning to terms, is a system of unlimited majority rule . . . a form of collectivism, which denies individual rights . . . The American system is a constitutionally limited republic, restricted to the protection of individual rights. In such a system, majority rule is applicable only to lesser details, such as the selection of certain personnel. But the majority has no say over the basic principles governing the government. It has no power to ask for or gain the infringement of individual rights. ."

I Got NO Duty To Anyone or Anything, Fucking NONE!

Duty

"One of the most destructive anti-concepts in the history of moral philosophy is the term "duty."

An anti-concept is an artificial, unnecessary and rationally unusable term designed to replace and obliterate some legitimate concept. The term "duty" obliterates more than single concepts; it is a metaphysical and psychological killer: it negates all the essentials of a rational view of life and makes them inapplicable to man's actions . . .

Whose Accurate At Detecting Liars: A Person or Robot?

- Photo found @: SDSU NewsCenter

"A lie-detecting artificial intelligence program developed at SDSU is being tested at airports and borders around the world.

"Most of us are terrible at detecting deception, even experts," said San Diego State University management information systems professor Aaron Elkins. "We often are overconfident and rarely are proven otherwise, so we just assume that we're really good at detecting deception."

That overconfidence can spell big trouble when lives depend on determining who's being deceitful, such as at international security checkpoints at borders and in airports. To overcome human's poor lie-detecting abilities, Elkins is working on a robotic lie detector that can accurately sniff out deception

The lie-detecting kiosk is known as an Automated Virtual Agent for Truth Assessments in Real Time (AVATAR). . . . "

Beware/Prepared/Conscious Hailing Ride Share Cars

If you are hailing cars from various Ride Share companies, beware, conscious, prepared: make sure you have identified the car you are getting into. Prevention can mean life or death.

  • Whether it is the license plate number
  •  Asking the driver for your information
  • Demand a driver that speaks English
  • If someone else is in the car is it another passenger? Who is it?
  • Make sure all parties have been designated by the company to be in the car.
  • Send a photo, or text with the license plate number to someone you know.
  • Send a photo of all in the car to someone you know.
  • Send a photo of the car to someone you know.
  • Send a photo of the drivers identification to someone you know.

* Most important: do not get into a car, or stay in a car you deem not safe. If there is something from the get go that does not seem right, be smart and ask for another car, or call another company, or dial 911. You do not have a duty to ride in a car, just because you made a call.

Be safe not sorry.

How New York Pimps PREY On The Young & Vulnerable

- Photo found @: New York Times

"Not every victim is being held against their will
in an apartment or a cellar or something like that.
They’re controlled in different ways,”
said Inspector James Klein,
commander of the NYPD’s Vice Enforcement Unit."

"They sit next to you on the subway and attend school with your children.

Some come from money; others were born into poverty.

There is no cookie-cutter mold for the city's sex-trafficking victims, a hidden - and burgeoning - part of its population.

"It's that confluence of a super-young, vulnerable person meeting a predatory individual who is ultimately part of a billion-dollar sex industry," said Rachel Lloyd, founder of the anti-sex trafficking group Girls Educational & Mentoring Services and a survivor herself.

"They don't really stand a chance."

In Day 2 of the Post's three-part series on New York's sex-trafficking epidemic, survivors, advocates and law-enforcement officials provide a glimpse into what it's like for the thousands of women and men who are bought, sold and abused across the five boroughs every day.

Their stories reveal how choice and consent get blurred in the face of desperation - and the lasting effects of the psychological warfare carried out by their ruthless pimps."

Al-Qaida, ISIS, . . . Moving Into & Recruiting In New Areas

- Photo found @: Miamiherald

"NIAMEY, NIGER - Even as Islamic State group fighters flee the Middle East and cause fear across Africa's Sahel region it is al-Qaida that poses the more serious long-term threat, the U.S. military's special operations commander in Africa said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Speaking on the sidelines of the annual U.S. counter-terror exercise to train West African special forces, Maj. Gen. Marcus Hicks pointed to last month's deadly attack on the army headquarters and heavily guarded French Embassy in Burkina Faso that was claimed by an al-Qaida-linked group in neighboring Mali.

It was evidence of a trasition away from attacks on "soft" targets such as hotels, he said Thursday, and further proof that West Africa's multiple extremist groups continue to push into new areas of the Sahel.

"I believe al-Qaida has a more disciplined approach to developing infrastructure across Africa, north Africa, the Sahel," he said. "They are taking a patient approach to gaining ground in influence over organizations that are already there and co-opting local and regional grievances and turning it to their own devices."

At the same time, "we are mindful of, very concerned about, the possibility of returned foreign fighters coming out of the Middle East" as the Islamic State group collapses, he said.

No one knows how many Islamic State group fighters may have returned to West Africa."

"The current threat largely comes from local fighters who have declared their allegiance."

Syria: Pull USA Into Another War, Exhaust The Economy

- Picture found @: Business Insider

  • "Experts said there were notable similarities between the strategies laid out in the book and the strategies taught in western military training.
  • The author details ISIS's core strategies for maintaining control in the region.
  • The notebook describes a solution, written in large letters "THE BIG SOLUTION" which explains that ISIS should not use "conventional military power against a much stronger foe," and suggests the group focus on "insurgency" until their political situation allows for a more conventional approach."
  • The author also discusses expanding efforts to other countries, including Saudi Arabia. A page reportedly questions: "How to make Saudi like Syria? Can we get people to hate Their [sic] rulers?"
  • The author continues: "Mecca and Medina are a priority for the [caliphate] to actually influence world Muslims. But to get there we need to destabilize Al-Saud.
  • The author offers suggestions on how to pull "the USA to another major war to exhaust its economy."
  • "The US decisions are very important, and they depend on the Presidential elections."
  • "However, if democrats lose, a Republican administration would be more likely to bring US boots on the ground, and cooperation with Iran will likely stop," the author reportedly wrote.
  • The journal also reportedly layed out a strategy for confronting the US on the battlefield: "Fighting the USA might be more dangerous militarily, but it will grant IS respect in Muslim [sic] eyes.""

MX Legalizing Marijuana: A Way to Curb Gang Violence

"MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Taking a lead from the United States, Mexico should allow states to begin legalizing marijuana while broader efforts are in limbo, a senior government official said,

as the country seeks ways to tackle record gang violence.

Tourism minister Enrique de la Madrid, confronting rising lawlessness in and around the resort cities of Cancun and Los Cabos, said it made no sense for Mexico to maintain prohibition given permissive U.S. policies in states such as California.

"I think in Mexico we should move towards regulating it at state level," he said in an interview late on Wednesday, calling it, "illogical" to divert funds from fighting kidnapping, rape, and murder to arrest people using marijuana.

President Enrique Pena Nieto has said Mexico and the United States should not pursue diverging policies on marijuana. In 2016, Pena Nieto backed a bill to allow Mexicans to carry an ounce of the drug, but the measure stalled in Congress.

Drug policy is one of the major issues in Mexico's July 1 presidential election. The front-runner, leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has even floated the idea of exploring an amnesty for criminal gangs to curb the violence.

Keeping marijuana illegal was to "give away" money to the gangs, he said. "And with the money, these men are bribing more police, buying more weapons and causing more violence."

While stressing he was not advocating drug use, de la Madrid said the court ruling, which is for now limited to the litigants in question, showed it was time to act."

"I'm against a bad policy that leads to more violence in Mexico," he said."

MS-13 Threat: A Call To Reconsider Sanctuary Cities

""MS-13 is an example," Harris said, "
of some of the worst of criminal gang behavior.""
~ U.S. Senate Kamala Harris, D-Calif

"MS-13 is among the largest street gangs in the U.S., with many members arriving from Central America. The gang's motto is "kill, rape, control," according to the newspaper.

"Let's stop the young people from getting caught in the gang pipeline to begin with, rather than just treating them as criminals once the gang takes over," the governor said at a news conference. "Let's not treat the disease, let's prevent the disease."

Cuomo said law-enforcement measures are important in tackling the gang, but stressed that more needs to be done to prevent young people from becoming "easy prey" for MS-13 recruiters.

Just last month, six alleged members of MS-13 were indicted in Maryland on charges of murder, conspiracy and racketeering. . . ."

"An alleged drug queen and her gang - who have ties to El Chapo's Sinaloa cartel - are believed to be responsible in part for the surge in violence that has ravaged Cancun over the past year, according to a report.

Leticia Rodriquez Lara - who goes by "Dona Lety" and "La 40" - and her alleged gunrunners have wrested control of narcotics sales in the tourist hotspot and nearby resort Playa del Carmen from rival cartel Los Zetas following a murderous turf war, Nine News Australia reported Wednesday.

The murder rate has doubled in a year, with 113 people killed so far in 2018.

The opioid crisis is the US has also had an indirect role in the staggering stats.

And the cartels, such as Lara's, have also been extorting local bar and restaurant owners for large amounts of cash, Nine News said.

Lara was a former federal police officer before she became one of the only women in Mexico to run her own drug gang. . . ."

Do You Have Respect or Contempt For The Man of Ability

Pyramid of Ability

"When you live in a rational society, where men are free to trade, you receive an incalculable bonus: the material value of your work is determined not only by your effort, but by the effort of the best productive minds who exist in the world around you.

When you work in a modern factory, you are paid, not only for your labor, but for all the productive genius which has made that factory possible: for the work of the industrialist who built it, for the work of the investor who saved the money to risk on the untried and the new, for the work of the engineer who designed the machines of which you are pushing the levers, for the work of the inventor who created the product which you spend your time on making, for the work of the scientist who discovered the laws that went into the making of that product, for the work of the philosopher who taught men how to think and whom you spend your time denouncing.
"The machine
the frozen form
of a living intelligence,
is the power
that expands the potential
of your life
by raising the productivity
of your time."

If you worked as a blacksmith in the mystics’ Middle Ages, the whole of your earning capacity would consist of an iron bar produced by your hands in days and days of effort. How many tons of rail do you produce per day if you work for Hank Rearden? Would you dare to claim that the size of your pay check was created solely by your physical labor and that those rails were the product of your muscles? The standard of living of that blacksmith is all that your muscles are worth; the rest is a gift from Hank Rearden.
"In proportion to the mental energy he spent
the man who creates a new invention
receives but a small percentage of his value
in terms of material payment,
no matter what fortune he makes,
no matter what millions he earns."

But the man who works as a janitor in the factory producing that invention, receives an enormous payment in proportion to the mental effort that his job requires of him. And the same is true of all men between, on all levels of ambition and ability. The man at the top of the intellectual pyramid contributes the most to all those below him, but gets nothing except his material payment, receiving no intellectual bonus from others to add to the value of his time. The man at the bottom who, left to himself, would starve in his hopeless ineptitude, contributes nothing to those above him, but receives the bonus of all of their brains. Such is the nature of the “competition” between the strong and the weak of the intellect. Such is the pattern of “exploitation” for which you have damned the strong."

The man of ability Ayn Rand talked about, has a set of values that coincide with ability. He or she is a trader, trading value for value. Understanding that:
