"'I own you': Australian parents sentenced after abusing daughter for 15 years."


"The first time it happened, she said, she was 5 years old.


Her mother was in the hospital — having just given birth to the girl's newest sibling — when her father slipped into her bedroom and raped her, starting a 15-year cycle of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.


Her father tied her up and locked her in an old chicken coop — or sometimes a small storage box — for days at a time, and surrounded her with barbed wire to keep her from attempting an escape.


He held her underwater and threatened her with a chain saw, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He made her stand on ant hills, swallow hot chilies and eat her own vomit, the Herald reported.


“My father inflicted evil,” she said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “He abused me in such ways that I thought I was going to die. My mother didn't stop him and did not protect me. My childhood was lost and I can never get it back.”


Judge Sarah Huggett said the couple, who had backgrounds in teaching and coaching elite sports, “hoodwinked” their community — appearing as dedicated parents, training their children for competitions both in Australia and abroad, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. The father would threaten his daughter, telling her if she did not win, “she would be taken to the shed,” the newspaper reported, citing court documents..."

"23-year-old Texas man who police claim confessed to decapitating his 21-year-old wife and placing her head into their freezer allegedly described the killing as “a battle between good and evil” as he was being interrogated, PEOPLE confirms.


On Wednesday, a grand jury returned an indictment against 23-year-old Davie Dauzat, who allegedly stabbed Natasha Dauzat to death in August while their young children were in a separate room of their Bellmead, Texas, home.


The indictment charges Davie with a single count: murder for his wife’s Aug. 25 death.


According to the indictment, police received a call the morning of Aug. 25 from Davie’s brother, who told investigators he was worried about Davie after speaking with him on the phone.


Police were dispatched to the Dauzat home, but Davie refused to come out, the indictment alleges. Over time, officers were able to talk him into surrendering. Once inside the home, they found the couple’s children unharmed but drenched in their mother’s blood..."

"A man who went missing in 1993 has been discovered living with a new family and a stolen identity in Florida.


Richard Hoagland made a panicked call to his wife, Linda Iseler, when she was at work on 10 February 1993, saying he was on his way to hospital.


She and her two sons, Matthew, 9, and Doug, 6, never saw him again.


Meanwhile Hoagland had traveled 1,000 miles south from their home in Indianapolis to the small town of Zephyrhills, Florida.


He remarried under the name of Terry Symansky - a fisherman who died in a freak accident in 1991 - and had another child.


Hoagland, now 63, faces several fraud charges. Pascoe County police called him a "selfish coward" for the cover-up.


Sheriff Chris Nocco said: "This is a person who has lived his life destroying others..."

Ban on Women Lifted - At Famous Mumbai Mosque

"A famous mosque in India has agreed to scrap a ban on women entering its inner sanctum after a bitter legal battle about the restriction.


The Haji Ali Dargah trust has barred women from the mausoleum off the coast of Mumbai since 2011, insisting the presence of women near the tomb of a revered saint is a "grievous sin" in Islam.


The trustees had appealed to the Supreme Court against a lower court's decision in August to overturn the ban as a violation of constitutional rights of equality.

But the trust told the Supreme Court on Monday it would now admit women but needed several weeks to set up special entry areas to the tomb in the 15th-century building.


A Muslim women's rights group hailed the decision as a victory which would likely put pressure on other places of worship that have gender restrictions.

"Sandy Parsons boasted only he could lead police to Erica’s body, relative says"


"People with knowledge of the case told The Charlotte Observer that it was about the time that the girl’s adoptive father – Sandy Parsons, serving eight years in a federal prison in Butner for fraud in connection with cashing the girl’s adoption assistance checks – opened a dialogue through a third party with detectives.


One family member said that Sandy Parsons bragged from prison that police would never be able to find Erica’s body without him because she was hidden somewhere that hikers, hunters and even children exploring the woods wouldn’t venture.


When it came out where Erica’s body was, Sandy Parsons confided, it would be a surprise to everyone.

Sandy Parsons also boasted that he’d made an offer to law enforcement – if they would release him and two other felons he was imprisoned with, give him the reward money for finding Erica and never charge him in her death, he would lead them to her body.

"FBI investigator calls discovery 'heartbreaking'"

Human remains believed to be that of missing teen Erica Parsons were found in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, according to officials.

The remains were found in the Pageland Mount Croghan area of Chesterfield County Tuesday.
Family members told WBTV they were asked to go to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office on Friday.


According to a release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office they, along with the FBI, obtained leads in August of 2016 that Erica was "more than likely deceased." According to the release, the remains were located on September 27. They were then sent to the NC Medical Examiner's Office and were identified as the young girl.


Investigators have not said how the remains were located, or indicated how Parsons may have died.

Tens of thousands of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia are starving. They have limited access to clean drinking water, electricity and medical care.


Trash piles up in the dozens of labor camps they are forced to occupy, leading to squalid conditions in their cramped quarters. Everyone is out of work, and their money is running out, if it hasn’t run out already.


It is impossible for them to pay back the exorbitant debts they accumulated in order to move to Saudi Arabia. They are also now unable to send valuable remittances back to their families in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.


No one has been paid in months—their employers, neglected payment by the state, have left these workers with nothing.


The government of Saudi Arabia has a large role to play in this current migrant crisis. In 2014, the drop in oil prices forced the government to selectively implement strict cuts in state spending. The kingdom’s subsequent mismanagement of its finances led to an economic depression, which in turn left the state unable to uphold its contractual obligations.


Saudi Arabia contracted many of the construction companies for which the stranded migrants worked. One of those companies is Saudi Oger, a Lebanese-owned construction mega-company that relies heavily upon the Saudi government for contracted work, such as building defense installations, hospitals and schools.


The government owes Saudi Oger over 30 billion riyals (approximately $8 billion) for work that has already been completed.


The entrenchment of the kafala system, which ties a worker’s immigration and employment status to his or her employer, undermines many of the efforts to alleviate the crisis. Under kafala, a worker cannot switch jobs or leave the country without the explicit permission of his or her employer. However, in the current situation, these requirements are impossible to fulfill, as there are no employers..."

Alex Cook 20yr Old at UWM - Charged W/Sexual Assualt

"On Oct. 12, in Madison, Wis., a female student went to police and filed a complaint against a 20-year-old student by the name of Alec Cook.


She said she and Cook had originally contacted each other via Facebook and gotten together four or five times since then, always in public.


But then, after studying with him at a college library and having dinner, he invited her to his apartment. According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by The Washington Post, she told Cook she was not interested in casual sex “and if they weren’t on the same page she would just go home.”


Cook told her they would not “do anything she ‘wouldn’t feel comfortable with.'”


According to the affidavit, within five minutes he started kissing her. When she tried to speak he kissed her more forcefully. “‘This is much too fast, this needs to stop,'” she told him.

Another student came forward later in the week and said the same man had assaulted her in February, according to a Madison Police Department statement. And then another, and another.

She said that when they searched his apartment, they found a notebook documenting what she called “grooming and stalking techniques...”

Impeach Judge John McKeon & Punish - Sign Petition

"A father raped his daughter multiple times and will only serve 60 days of jail time. Judge John C. McKeon sentenced 40 year-old Martin Blake to only 60 days of incarceration and probation for the admitted, multiple rapes of his 12 year-old. Judge McKeon even gave Blake credit for the 17 days served while awaiting trial, meaning he will only serve 43 days for the brutal sexual assault.


60 days in prison with a suspended 30 year sentence does not match the crime and fails to acknowledge the horrors the victim had to endure.


He is just one of many judges who have been caught handing down light sentences to rapists.


Judge McKeon seemed to only listen to those who stood by a man who sexually assaulted his own daughter multiple times. From the victim’s mother to his church, they came out in support of Martin Blake. The victim only had the justice system on her side, and it failed her. Judge McKeon failed her. She deserves justice and together we can help be her voice.


The Judicial Standards Commission must review this case to right this wrong, but in the meantime, we can ensure Judge McKeon doesn’t get to retire and collect a paycheck from taxpayers after failing to fulfill his duty as a judge.

Rape Sentence 1,503yrs - Longest Term in Fresno History

"Rape sentence of 1,503 years a contrast to controversial Montana case"


"The 41-year-old California man was sentenced Friday to the longest-known prison sentence in Fresno Superior Court history, the Fresno Bee reported.


The Associated Press is not naming the man because it could identify his daughter. The AP does not name victims of sexual abuse.


The California judge, Edward Sarkisian Jr., told the man he is a "serious danger to society" and noted that he had never shown remorse and has blamed his daughter for his predicament.


The man's daughter was first sexually abused by a family friend but instead of protecting her, he turned her into "a piece of property," prosecutor Nicole Galstan said.

The growing trend of using religion as a shield from regulation makes children susceptible to abuse in religious daycares. Thus, a daycares religious freedom comes at a price for children. The lack of common sense rules in religious daycares has proven disastrous as numerous children are abused and neglected in these facilities. Many cases are not reported because of religious exemptions, yet even when cases are reported it does not ensure justice. In fact, many cases are dismissed because of religious exemptions which allow many states to break rules.

These loopholes allow unthinkable tragedies to occur to children and leave families with few options to obtain justice. Faith-based daycares have virtually no rules which makes it hard for states to properly enforce, monitor, and oversee regulatory policies for religious daycares which further escalates the problem. When states allow exemptions, it decreases the safety of children in these care facilities. Many states have started fight against this systemic child abuse but 17 states leave children unprotected and vulnerable..."

Montana Judge McKeon - Gave Father Who Repeatedly Raped His 12 Year Old a 60 Day Sentence

"As the judge in the Stanford rape case learned, along with the judge in the “affluenza” drunken driving case, the whole world is watching them. A crowd, an angry crowd, can form in a matter of days of people outraged by what they consider a lenient sentence for a heinous crime.


In the case of Judge John McKeon, as of early morning Wednesday, almost 20,000 people had signed a Change.org petition calling for his impeachment for the 60-day sentence he gave a Glasgow, Mont., man who pleaded guilty to repeatedly raping his prepubescent daughter.


“It’s time to start punishing the judges who let these monsters walk our streets,” read the petition.
Prosecutors had recommended a mandatory 25-year sentence, 100 years with 75 suspended, which is what state law calls for.

In most of these controversial cases, the judges under siege tend to remain silent. What makes McKeon’s case unusual is that he has chosen to defend himself in public.


In an email to the Associated Press, McKeon said he had several reasons for handing down the seemingly light sentence.


The judge claimed that news coverage obscured state law by failing to mention an exception to the mandatory 25-year prison sentence. According to McKeon, the law allows those arrested for incest involving someone under 12 years old to avoid prison if a psychosexual evaluation finds that psychiatric treatment “affords a better opportunity for rehabilitation of the offender and for the ultimate protection of the victim and society.”


In the note to the AP, McKeon also referenced letters written to him by the victim’s mother and grandmother. Both letters requested the convicted man not be sentenced to prison.


“No one spoke on behalf of the 12 year old child at trial,” it read. “No one. The victim was not given justice, but instead will have to live with the fear that she still has to face her rapist in their community. ”

Santa Clara County: Motel Sting Targets Human & Sex Trafficking of Youth & Forced Victims

"SANTA CLARA — At the end of the night, after a series of encounters that ended with a few citations issued and some stern talks given out, the detective found herself having a heart-to-heart with a young woman fumbling to explain how she ended up in a motel room filled with police.

“He doesn’t force me,” the woman said of the man police suspect is her pimp, “but if I choose not to do something he threatens me.”


She continued: “So I don’t have a choice. I mean, I have a choice, but not the ones I want to make.”


The detective, sitting next to her on the motel bed Wednesday, interjected.


“It sounds like he’s manipulated you emotionally,” the detective said. “Is it right for someone to get the money that you’re doing all the work for? He doesn’t seem to care about you. He has two other girls.”


Through the first two days of the operation, the task force detained or questioned 20 prostitutes and customers in the joint effort that also involved the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, county juvenile detention, and local victim-advocacy groups. They arrested one man they suspect was pimping a 16-year-old girl.


“We’re looking for human trafficking and to find victims of human trafficking. That’s our goal,” said Sheriff’s Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup, who is running the operation. “Whether or not we arrest or cite sex workers, we don’t have a blanket policy on that. We know there are sex workers out there who aren’t being exploited, they’re in that business and that’s what they want to do.”


“I appreciate the way it’s a multi-pronged approach,” said Tanis Crosby, CEO of the Silicon Valley YWCA. “This is the way in which it should be provided, with confidential onsite support for survivors, where they can talk without fear of retaliation. It gives a measure of support and safety that is absolutely integral.”


The sheriff-led enforcement this week is part of a wider net of similar operations conducted across the country as part of the FBI-sponsored National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Santa Clara County identified at least 150 cases of human trafficking in 2015 and that at least 70 percent of the victims were victims of sexual assault at some point.

Iran: An Abused Child Bride To Hang For Killing Husband

"Charged with killing her husband when she was 17, she confessed to the murder but later recanted, saying her brother-in-law committed the crime and pressured her to take responsibility.


Now, her cause has galvanized civil rights groups like Amnesty International, which says that she did not receive a fair trial and that Iran has a record of executing juvenile offenders.


But any day now, she could be hanged.


Her story begins in a small village in northern Iran.


When she was 15, Sekaanvand, who comes from a poor, conservative family, ran away from home to elope with a man she thought was her key to a better life.


The marriage quickly turned sour. Sekaanvand says that her husband began physically and verbally abusing her. When she went to the police, they failed to investigate the allegations, according to human rights groups. Her husband refused her requests for a divorce, and she couldn't return to her parents, who had disowned her for eloping.


At 17, Sekaanvand was arrested and accused of stabbing and killing her husband. According to Amnesty International, she was held in a police station for 20 days, where she said she was repeatedly beaten before she confessed to the crime, and she was not provided with a lawyer.


Now international activists are urging the Iranian government to halt Sekaanvand's impending execution. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and other human rights groups are encouraging people to tweet their support for Sekaanvand using #SaveZeinab — and write to the Iranian government expressing concern over this case.

"Egyptian lawmaker who proposed ‘female genital mutilation’ to ‘reduce sexual desires’ now wants women to undergo ‘virginity tests’ to get into college"


"The Ministry of Higher Education was urged by the lawmaker to issue a notice that would make a virginity test mandatory for women entering university.


He added that only women who pass the virginity test should be granted admission into the specific university.

7 Year Old Chicago Boy Endured 2yrs of Brutal Torture - By Mother and Boyfriend

"Mother, boyfriend locked boy in closet, beating and torturing him over two years, Chicago authorities say"


"It was a dreary Sunday morning on Chicago’s South Side when someone spotted the boy.


Wearing only a soiled pull-up diaper, he was seen running against southbound traffic on Lake Shore Drive, a busy eight-lane thoroughfare that hugs the coast of Lake Michigan.


A passerby called 911 to report the alarming sight. When police arrived, they found a 7-year-old covered in cuts and bruises, malnourished and bleeding from a fresh gash above his left eye. A doctor who examined the boy would later say he had never seen so many injuries on a human being, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.


As the boy was being treated at the hospital, police found the person that prosecutors now say is responsible for his wretched condition: his mother.


During a bond hearing last week, prosecutors told a judge that the couple would regularly beat the boy with an electrical cord, a baseball bat or a pole, the Sun-Times reported. In one instance, prosecutors said, the boyfriend held the boy down on a hot stove and burned his genitals with a curling iron.


Court records revealed other gruesome details about the alleged abuse. According to the Chicago Tribune, the boy told police that Woods and her boyfriend would force him to sleep and go to the bathroom in the closet for long stretches, feeding him sporadically and never letting him go outside. His meals, when they came, consisted of cans of okra and protein shakes, prosecutors said. 14yr Old DEAD After FORCED Drugs and Sex Trafficking

"Two accused of murder, human trafficking of 14 - year - old girl"


"The 14-year-old girl was brought to Orlando Regional Medical Center in the back seat of a car on Aug. 14, eight days after a group of people allegedly started forcing her and a 15-year-old into prostitution.


The younger girl, whose name was not released, had overdosed on drugs including cold medicine dextromethorphan and Xanax. She later died at the hospital.

"They gave the drugs to the girls in order for them to forget about having sex with men," Orlando police Det. Michael Fields said. "... The girls felt threatened, they were shown guns, firearms, and told that bad things would happen to them if they were to tell."


Two men were arrested on murder charges in the case, police announced Wednesday and authorities are still looking for two other suspects.

"A Los Angeles Police Department detective who was investigating rape allegations against NBA star Derrick Rose died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said Wednesday.


Officers found LAPD Det. Nadine Hernandez, 44, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest Tuesday afternoon in a Whittier home, according to the Wittier Police Department. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.


"At this time, there are no signs of foul play, and this incident is being investigated as a suicide," Whittier Police said Wednesday. "However, this is an ongoing investigation."


A firearm was recovered at the scene, but it was unclear if it was her service weapon, a police spokesman said.


LAPD sources who were not authorized to speak publicly about the case confirmed that Hernandez was a detective in the department's Robbery-Homicide Division special Assault Section. She frequently was involved in high-profile sex crime cases, authorities said.


Hernandez worked for the LAPD for nearly two decades. As an officer, she worked in the department's media relations office before moving up the ranks to detective..."

With gray skies mirroring the somber mood, loved ones placed blue roses on the tiny white, gold-trimmed casket, placed in the children’s section of Rosedale Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
The service was private, with just a dozen family members surrounding the plot for the boy who authorities said was beaten to death by his mom’s abusive boyfriend.


The Harlem boy was found dead Sept. 26, and autopsy results showed he was beaten for months.
